Web Assessment

  1. If you don’t know what’s not working,
    how can you fix it?

Before you start any redesign of your website, we recommend you begin with a web assessment.

The purpose of a web assessment is to review how well your website:

  1. Meets the needs of your constituents (student prospects, students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community at large)
  2. Integrates with your school’s goals.
  3. Tells your story.

Assessment Process

A web assessment can take about two to four weeks, during which time we will:

  • Examine the navigation, functionality, and usability of your site.
  • Determine your website’s ability to meet the needs of internal and external users.
  • Review of your college or university’s web strategy.
  • Study the marketing characteristics of the website for imaging, positioning, and messaging.
  • Critique the website’s ability to represent the image and brand of the college.
  • Consider how well the website integrates into the overall marketing and imaging of the institution.
  • Review user paths for primary audiences.
  • Examine the use of various technologies, such as e-recruitment tools and applications to support alumni, faculty, staff, and administrators.
  • Review the utilization of site metrics and analytics.
  • Review the process and workflow for maintaining content, updating existing content, and creating new content.
  • Review staffing and resource allocation related to the support of the website and content development.
  • Study the web strategy for the college and how the outward facing pages are in keeping with this strategy.
  • Understand and document existing web production workflows.
  • Identify the workflow issues and needs relative to selecting a new CMS.

Following the review, we will write up a report of our findings and make specific recommendations. This web assessment report will provide the framework from which your school can change aspects of or redesign your website.

White Papers

"Absolutely fabulous. California community colleges like to hire local. For their web assessment and design, I would give Paskill Stapleton & Lord a 9. They would have gotten a 10 if they were local."

"They're always looking to improve, and improve, and improve. PS&L is well-respected on our campus and has earned that respect through collaboration with all of the key players."

"My compliments to Bill Hurlburt. He presented on the last day of training on a somewhat intimidating subject. His presentation was exceptional! His one-on-one work with the staff was very much appreciated as well. I know everyone gained a clearer understanding."

"We were happy with the new web site. We were happy with the process. They laid out a timeline with responsibilities spelled out for us and for them, and they stuck to it."
